Florals

This collection explores the space between reality and imagination in regards to gender identity. Working with acrylic on canvas, I am inspired by the color and wilfulness of flowers particularly as a coded language of self-expression in the queer community. I focus on 70s, pop-art inspired daisies as a connection to the doodles my mom would draw on the love notes in my school lunches. These flowers are not demure, precious, or delicate. They are symbols of explosive joy coupled with a tinge of chaotic uncertainty.
